1. Your idea
Analyse the need for training courses for your staff members. What impact do you want your school’s involvement in the EU programme to have on students’ learning? How many teachers would you like to involve in the international mobility? What methodologies, tools and areas in the curriculum would be most relevant for your teachers? Why do they need such courses?
To incorporate Erasmus+ throughout the whole school it is useful to bring decision makers from across all curriculum areas together in order to discuss how the programme can enhance:
- specific areas or subjects in the curriculum (e.g. interculturality, media literacy);
- interdisciplinary learning (e.g. interdisciplinary approach to environmental sustainability, STEM and Values Integrated Learning – learning values through the medium of STEM curriculum);
- school values, culture and interpersonal skills (e.g. critical thinking, preventing prejudices and discrimination, intercultural understanding, anti-bullying, teamwork);
- learning and teaching approaches (e.g. sharing and implementing a more pupil-centred approach to learning).
This holistic perspective will enable your staff to identify a wide range of potential benefits for pupils and staff, irrespective of their academic discipline or professional role.
2. Consult the Erasmus+ Programme Guide & Model Application Forms
Download the Erasmus+ Programme Guide for additional information about the Staff Mobility projects. You will find it available in English and most European languages.

3. Create your European Development Plan
A European Development Plan (EDP) is a requirement if you are applying for Staff Mobility (Key Action 1) and is recommended for any school interested in long-term involvement in Erasmus+.
Your EDP should cover:
- your organization’s needs, in terms of plans for the development of high-quality education and internationalisation (e.g. new learning and teaching methods or tools or professional development) and how the planned activities will help meet your needs;
- the impact you expect Erasmus+ to have on students’ learning, teachers, other staff and your school;
- how your school will integrate the competences and experiences acquired by your staff into curricula and organisational practice.
4. Match your idea with the Erasmus+ opportunities
In order to increase your chances to obtain the funding, you need to address in your project the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme for your sector (school education or adult education) as well as the horizontal priorities.
You should also search on your National Agency’s website to see if there are any specific national priorities for your sector.
SCHOOL EDUCATION
Activities that are an opportunity for teachers to gain competences in addressing the needs of pupils with disadvantaged backgrounds. Given the current context concerning young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, particular attention will be also given to support projects that train teachers in such areas as training refugee children, intercultural classrooms, teaching pupils in their second language, classroom tolerance and diversity.
ADULT EDUCATION
Activities that are an opportunity for staff of adult education organisations to gain competences in addressing the needs of adult learners with disadvantaged backgrounds. Given the current context concerning young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, particular attention will be also given to support projects that train staff of adult education organisations in such areas as training refugee adult learners, intercultural classrooms, teaching adult learners in their second language, classroom tolerance and diversity.
VET EDUCATION
NEW: In the new Erasmus+ Program, staff from VET institutions can also apply for Staff mobility projects to send their teachers and other employeess to Erasmus+ training courses.
The objective of VET mobility activities funded by Erasmus+ is to provide learning opportunities to individuals and to support internationalisation and institutional development of VET providers and other organisations active in vocational education and training. The VET organisations should actively promote inclusion and diversity, environmental sustainability and digital education through their activities.
5. Courses
Choose the most suitable training course(s) for your staff members. You will find here our course catalogue. We can also prepare tailor made courses adapted to your needs.
6. Register and get your OID number
To submit an application and apply for Erasmus+ KA1 grant you must:
- First, check if you have or creat a EU Login account by which you login to all the online applications
- Then, check if your organisation already has an OID number (Organisation ID). You can search by your organisation’s name and country here. If your organisation is already registered, you should not register again. You can get an OID number by registering here.
- Erasmus Accreditation: accredited organisations will gain simplified access to KA1 funding opportunities under the future Programme (2021-2027). Next deadline for Erasmus Accreditation: October 2021.
7. Upload the documents to prove legal status and financial capacity
When you register on the Participant Portal, you must also upload the following documents for your organisation:

Fill in relevant application form that you can find on the European Comission website or on your National Agency’s website. To access the application form, you need to login with your EU Login. However, you can already see here some PDF samples of the application forms.

9. Support
For groups of 10 participants or more, we can provide you support in the application process. If you need such assistance, please contact us.
We can also provide you with pre-registration documents for you to strengthen the application.
10. Success
Results will be announced on your National Agency’s website. When you receive news from your NA, you should get in touch with us for further arrangements regarding courses.
