When working with Erasmus+ mobility projects, it is important to understand the specific terminology used in the Erasmus+ programme.
Many organisations feel confused by the differences between KA120, KA121 and KA122, especially when applying for the first time or planning long-term mobility activities.
These three Key Actions are closely connected but serve different purposes: accreditation, annual funding for accredited organisations and short-term mobility projects for non-accredited organisations.
This overview is especially useful for:
- schools and adult education organisations
- NGOs and non-profit associations
- Vocational training centers (VET) organisations new to Erasmus+
- organisations planning a long-term Erasmus+ strategy
Here you have a summary about the differences between KA120, KA121, KA122 Erasmus+ projects.
KA120 – Accreditation – October deadline
KA121 – Yearly funding for accredited organisations – February deadline
KA122 – One-off project for non-accredited organisations – February deadline
KA120 – Erasmus+ Accreditation (October deadline)
This is not funding yet.
It is a quality label that shows your organisation has a long-term Erasmus+ strategy.
– You apply once
– You explain your vision and objectives (2–7 years)
– If approved, you become an accredited organisation
– Accreditation allows easier access to funding in the following years
Good for: organisations planning regular mobilities every year
KA121 – Accredited Mobility Projects (February deadline)
Only for organisations that already have accreditation with KA120.
This is the annual funding request.
– Shorter and simpler application
– Funding for courses, job shadowing, teaching assignments
– Based on your approved Erasmus+ plan
– You can apply every year
Good for: organisations with experience and a stable Erasmus+ plan
KA122 – Short-term Mobility Projects (Non-accredited) (February deadline)
This is a one-off project, without accreditation.
– You apply project by project
– More detailed application than KA121
– Duration: 6–18 months
– Suitable for first Erasmus+ experiences
Good for: organisations new to Erasmus+ or not ready for long-term commitment
How to choose?
– First Erasmus+ experience → KA122
– Planning mobilities every year → KA120 + KA121
– Already accredited → KA121
